On Thursday 12th September 1991 four pairs made their last journey from the Garrett street stable down to the brewery in Chiswell Street where the staff from the brewery and children from the local schools had come out to give the horses and drivers a final farewell.
The photos below show us leaving the Garrett Street stable for the last time driving along Golden Lane with the City of London mounted police from Wood Street giving us an escort, then into Chiswell Street stopping outside the Brewery and all the staff coming out to wave us a farewell, then on to Bunhill Row past the school and then back to the stable.
On Monday 16th of September the 8 horses were loaded in to two horseboxes and the last of the drays were loaded on to the low loaders, at 11am they pulled out of the Garrett Street stable for the last time heading for their new home on the Whitbread hop farm at Paddock Wood, Kent.
